What with all that American success and hordes of screaming girls following them wherever they go, it's not surprising that One Direction have started to be compared to original British supergroup The Beatles.
What with all the hysteria they cause wherever they go, we can definitely see how like Beatlemania, One Direction fever is becoming, but according to original Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, the two bands shouldn't necessarily be compared.
Speaking to ITV's Daybreak, Sir Paul said: "There are so many bands who all get called 'the next Beatles'. Suddenly it puts an awful lot of pressure to be the next Beatles''.
"Oasis were 'the next Beatles' once if you remember. It's the kiss of death."
We're pretty sure that might have been more to do with the Gallagher brothers and let's fact it, we can't imagine anything could tearing apart Larry Stylinson.
It's not that Sir Paul is actually against the comparison on principle though, it's just that he thinks One Direction's success should be seen as wholly their own.
"It's a pressure, because suddenly you've got to live up to all the things that we did, and it was a different time. So let's just call them 'the next terrific band'."
"They're doing well in America, it's good, good luck lads," he added.
